OpenClaw faces challenges while enhancing security and features

OpenClaw has recently faced several challenges, including slow gateways and installation issues, as it works to enhance its security and features. The team has announced plans to shrink the core and move optional features to ClawHub, while also preparing for a Long-Term Support (LTS) version. Notably, OpenClaw has implemented significant security updates, including the introduction of SECURITY.md and increased observability, with support from industry leaders like NVIDIA and OpenAI.

In addition to these developments, OpenClaw has formed a partnership with VirusTotal to ensure that skills on ClawHub are scanned for security threats, blocking malicious skills through daily re-scans. The project, which has transitioned from its previous names Clawd and Moltbot to OpenClaw, is designed as an open agent platform that operates locally on user machines. As the landscape of AI automation evolves, competitors like Google's "Remy" and Microsoft's ClawPilot are also emerging, highlighting the growing interest in agent workflows and developer tooling within this space.
