Tencent launches OpenClaw-based AI agent for global users

Tencent has launched an international version of its AI agent, QClaw, which is built on the OpenClaw framework, aiming to provide global users with access to advanced AI automation capabilities. After achieving over one million downloads within just ten days of its initial release in China, the English version is now available for Mac and Windows users, although access is limited to the first 20,000 'founding' members who complete an application form. The rapid development of this version, completed in only five days, highlights the efficiency of OpenClaw, which handled 99% of the coding.

The QClaw agent incorporates an "AI Security Gateway" to manage permissions and ensure user data protection, with Tencent asserting that local files are not permanently stored on their servers. As the platform evolves, users can expect ongoing model updates and improvements to the agent workflow, supported by robust developer tooling and API integrations. This launch not only emphasizes Tencent's commitment to expanding its AI offerings but also raises questions about data privacy and trust in technology from Chinese companies.
